Activity and assets
Three places in the wallet tell you where your money is: the Dashboard, Activity and Assets. This page shows you how to read each, and what is still on its way.
Your balances
The Dashboard is the first page after you log in. Its balance card lists what you have of each asset, such as XRP or DSUSD, in its own currency: what is in your settlement hub and on your own account together, since your node moves money between the two by itself. The numbers update as payments move. Beside it, Recent shows your last few payments, with a link to all your activity.
- In flight. A small figure in brackets, such as (XRP 0.25 in flight), is the part of that balance that payments under way hold right now. It is still yours until those payments finish, usually within seconds.
- In all. At the top of the card, in large figures, the wallet adds your assets up in one currency. You choose that currency in Exchange-rate settings. The total shows only while every rate it needs is fresh: with one missing or stale, there is no total rather than a wrong one.
Amounts are exact. The wallet cuts digits it does not show and never rounds up, so a balance never looks larger than it is. Each amount shows its currency first, then two decimals, then up to two more muted ones.
Ledgers shows each ledger in more detail: the part of the balance on it, and below it what the account on the underlying ledger holds, less what that ledger holds back as a reserve. The two differ while settlements are on their way, and by what you owe peers or they owe you. Add and fund a ledger explains that page.
Payments in and out
Open Activity in the top menu. It has two lists, newest first, each with the last 100 payments.
Incoming payments
Each incoming payment is a request to be paid: one you made under Receive, or one an app or another wallet made through Open Payments to pay you. Each row shows:
- what it is for, if whoever made it said so, else Incoming payment;
- what has arrived, and of how much, if it asked for a set amount, such as $ 4.20 of $ 10.00. Once it is paid in full it shows the amount alone, $ 10.00, even if what arrived is up to a ten-thousandth of a unit under or over: no payer can hit an amount to the last digit (see Follow the payment);
- who requested it: You, an app by its address, or A client known by its key; and when.
Its badge says where it stands:
| Badge | Means |
|---|---|
open |
It still takes money. |
completed |
It takes no more: it was paid in full, or someone completed it. |
expired |
Its time ran out. What arrived before stays yours. |
An open payment has a Complete button. Use it when you have what you need, say a payer sent less than you asked and you are fine with that. It takes no more money after that, whatever it asked for.
Outgoing payments
Outgoing payments are the ones you sent with Send, and the ones apps you approved sent for you (see Connect apps). Each row shows who it went to, who sent it, and the amount the payment fixed. For a payment of what they receive, that is what they receive, in their currency, and if it failed after money left, what it cost you of the most it may take, such as XRP 25.00, paid $ 12.00 of $ 33.32. For a payment of what you send, it is what it has sent of the most it may take from you, such as $ 9.80 of $ 10.00, and once it is sent, what it sent.
| Badge | Means |
|---|---|
sending |
It is still under way. |
completed |
It delivered what it was meant to. |
failed |
It stopped. The row says why, in plain words. |
Select the recipient to open the payment's own page. It follows the payment live until it completes or fails, and shows what the receiver gets, what it cost you, when it started and when it finished.
If a list says Reconnecting or Not available, the wallet has lost its live view of your node, and shows that rather than old numbers as current. It reconnects by itself.
What your node holds outside its books
Your balances are your node's books. The money behind them sits in accounts outside it: your account on the XRP Ledger testnet, and your account in each settlement hub you are in. Open Assets in the top menu to see them, on a page called External assets.
Each card is one account. The XRP Ledger account is called
XRP Ledger Testnet account. A hub account shows under the
ID of the scheme over it, such as hub-xrpl-testnet-xrp.
Each card shows:
- its address, where it has one, as text and as a QR code: where you send money to fund it;
- what it holds of each asset, as the ledger last said, never added up from the books: XRP, and each token on a trust line, with its issuer;
- the reserve the ledger holds back, which is never spent;
- a red notice if a token's issuer froze your line or the whole token, and what that stops;
- which of your ledgers settle through it, each a link to its Receive tab.
The testnet account also has a Get test XRP button, which asks the testnet faucet for free test XRP, once a minute at most. If the card says the account does not exist yet, send it XRP or wait for the faucet.
For your hub accounts in detail (balance, holds toward peers, deposits and withdrawals) use the Hubs page.
Why it works this way: holdings as the ledger reports them, never as the books add them up.
